Refurbished Confectionery Equipment

Adansonia Confectionery Engineering personnel are experts in the repair and refurbishment of multiple types of confectionery machinery.

Machine Refurbishments

With a strong background and expertise in an extensive range of wrapping and cut-and-wrap machines, such as Rose Forgrove, GD, Hansella, RAF, and others, Adansonia Confectionery Engineering can refurbish many machines to new condition and offer a new machine guarantee.

We maintain a selected stock of wanted machines, such as Forgrove, for refurbishment to order. Adansonia Confectionery Engineering will source specific machines for a complete rebuild at the customer’s request.

Companies also ship runout machinery for refurbishment and upgrades rather than buying new ones. Many times, a rebuild turnaround is faster and less expensive than buying a new one. If the upgrade is considered substantial, the refurbished and upgraded machine could be depreciated as new rather than expensed.

In addition to wrappers and cut-and-wrap machines, we also refurbish hard candy formers, rope sizers, batch rollers, specialised cookers, and numerous other confectionery equipment. For more information, enquire below.

From Used to Brand New

Depending on the customer's requirements, we can supply machines of various categories.

“As Is” - These could be machines taken straight out of production and sold to another end user if the customer would require these machines to be checked over and put into.

“Good Running Condition“ – The same machine would then be thoroughly checked over for any bearing failure and worn and damaged parts, including electrical equipment. This would all be repaired and replaced. After testing and further inspection, the machine will be ready for reliable service.

“A1 – As New Condition” – The machine can be fully rebuilt to “As New” or better than new condition, with modern upgrades, such as fitting inverter speed control and the latest low interference, low energy consumption motors, guarding and switching, etc. The “A1-As New” category would always have every nut, bolt and part removed from the machine; after thoroughly inspecting all the components, the machine parts, including the frame, would be refinished. This could be spray paint, blacking, or anodising for aluminium parts.

All the worn parts will be remanufactured and replaced. After the machine has been fully reassembled, it will undergo rigorous testing in our workshop. After a full inspection and sign-off, the machine will be ready for the customer “as new.”

Refurbishment Process

Adansonia Confectionery Engineering follows a specific, step-by-step refurbishment and rebuild sequence with critical quality control checkpoints. Example steps are:

Comprehensive Operations Check

Suppose the machine is in safe running condition. In that case, guards are removed, and the machine is run at slowly increasing speeds to check for oil leaks, bearing sounds, electrical draw, and any other defects that the operation will reveal.

Visual Inspection

After the operations test, or if the machine cannot be operated, it is stripped down, and all components are carefully inspected.

Rebuild Plan

This includes identifying all required machine parts, machining or purchasing the necessary parts from trusted UK suppliers, ensuring that all parts are in-house and meet the specifications, planning, and then initiating the rebuild and refurbishment project.

Instruments & Accessories

This phase involves replacing substandard guards and safety interlocks, ensuring that all electrical controls and meters are functioning properly or have been replaced, and upgrading any electrical system to meet current safety requirements.

Final Inspection & Testing

At this point, the finished machine is inspected against all quality control checks. The machine is then powered up, with the electrician checking for any noticeable abnormalities. The machine is then first run at low speed, checking for any abnormal sounds and power draw. With continuous checking, the speed is slowly increased to maximum speed specifications. If possible, the machine is tested with the product and signed off for shipment to the customer.
